Becoming a Committee Member

The role of Committee Members will be to:

  •  assist MPS in its decision-making on topics determined by the MPS Board of Trustees;
  • assist MPS in ensuring the effective involvement or consultation with the wider community;
  • overseeing and supporting the effective administration of projects, grants and support in Montserrat, where the Committee in question is specifically the Projects Committee.

Committee Members will be crucial to the choice of, and local buy-in to, projects & initiatives in Montserrat, their planning, management and execution, and hence to the success & sustainability and to regeneration in general.  They must be prepared to adhere to the Constitution, rules & regulations and ultimate accountability that apply to Trustees and MPS generally.  And, where appropriate, to assist/advise Trustees in longer-term planning and making applications to the Charity Commission should particular desirable solutions warrant their prior authorisation.

Committee Members will qualify for life membership of the Charity as Platinum Pioneer Patrons.

To Become a Committee Member relevant rules & procedures for becoming a Trustee will apply

Becoming a Sponsor, Mentor or Adviser

Sponsors, Mentors and Advisers are needed to assist those running projects with either advice, assistance, training, provision of facilities, or other support in planning & developing their projects for success, and in making applications for funding.  Sponsors can also include those volunteering assistance in running projects led by the Charity.

These are roles that will be crucial to the success & sustainability of projects, and to effective regeneration of Montserrat, especially taking into account official assessments of a "lack of entrepreneurial talent" and significant level of "parochialism" on the island.

Sponsors, Mentors & Advisers will qualify for life membership of the Charity as Platinum Pioneer Patrons.

Patronage and Becoming a Patron

We believe in the power of a people united in supporting itself and in the power of evolving opportunity, one bearing opportunity for another, and leading to opportunity of one kind or another for all.

In supporting our Charity, you help to revitalise your homeland or this island in which you share an interest, starting with helping the most vulnerable and the most ambitious among them.  This ultimately leads to a virtuous cycle of creating opportunities for others and, indeed, satisfaction or opportunity for yourself.

Become a Patron through one of the following:

  • giving in line with one of our Ways to Give;
  • paying annual membership fees to our Charity;
  • becoming a customer of Montserrat businesses.
Montserrat Patrons Society is a Foundation CIO regulated by the Charity Commission of England & Wales, with registered charity number 1194487, at 367 Caledonian Road, London N7 9DQ, United Kingdom.
